FFA Enjoys Annual Banquet

Pearson a Candidate for Area President
PHS Junior Aubrey Pearson has advanced through the Area nomination committee process and is now one of the top six candidates for the Area 4 Presidential race. Aubrey will address the voting delegates at Clyde High School on May 15 at the Area 4 Convention.
Students Compete at State
On April 28, Paradise FFA had five students compete in the State Livestock CDE in College Station. Pictured with Mr. Bradshaw are Dustin Meadows, Gracie Oates, Blaine Gibson, Danae Meadows, and Clint Demmitt.
Students Qualify for State
Paradise ISD had five students who qualified for the State Livestock CDE in College Station on April 26-27:Blaine Gibson
This team placed second in the Area Competition out of 90 schools represented, from classes 1A-6A. Dustin Meadows was the fifth high individual out of 360 kids.
CDE Competitions Produce Good Results
Paradise FFA had a good run during the spring Career Development Event season. Here are the results through the Area Contest:
Wildlife Management - 2nd in District (Banner Winner), 7th in Area
Wool - 2nd in District (Banner Winner), 13th in Area
Horse - 6th in District. 36th in Area
Meats - 3rd in District (Banner Winner), 11th in Area
Farm Business - 1st in District (Banner Winner), 6th in Area
Dairy Cattle - 6th in District, 32nd in Area
Livestock - 1st in District (Banner Winner), 2nd in Area (Plaque Winner), State Qualifiers
Milk Quality - 2nd in District, (Banner Winner) 17th in Area
Gibson Competes for Scholarships
PHS Senior Blaine Gibson advanced to the State Level for FFA scholarships with a potential for $40,000. Blaine interviewed at the Area level where the top 25 seniors were selected to go on to the State round to compete for over $1 million in available scholarships. Awards range from $3,000 to $40,000.
FFA Teams Compete at Area Events
Over the weekend of April 7, Paradise FFA had two teams compete at the Area level of Competition.
The Meats team Consisting of Lakon Yates, Taylet Rademacher, Caelan Green and Mariah Kirbie traveled to Texas A&M University Saturday. They finished their season 11th in our Area and 3rd in our District.
The Wildlife Management and Resources Team competed Monday in Breckenridge and finished their season 7th in the Area and 2nd in our District. The team members were Will Reeves, Laura Livesay, Jaeten Rottman, and Candice Green.
Next week the Livestock, Dairy Cattle, Farm Business Management and Milk Quality Products Teams will travel to TAMU-Commerce for the Area round of competition on April 17.
Wool, Horse and Land Teams compete April 18 at Tarleton State University in their Area round of competition.
PHS Students Elected as Officers
On April 3, Paradise FFA traveled to Mineral Wells for our first Oil Belt District Convention. Paradise has been moved to a new District and a new Area this year. These students were elected as officers:
Gracie Oates was elected as the 2018-2019 District Reporter.
Aubrey Pearson was elected as a 2018-2019 Area Officer.

FFA Brings Home Banners from District Banquet
On December 4, the Paradise FFA Chapter brought home 18 banners, the most of any school in the district.
Gibson Featured by AgTexas
PHS Senior Blaine Gibson was featured as an AgYouth of the Month for December 2017. The AgYouth program is sponsored by AgTexas.com.
Students are Successful at District LDE Competition
On November 8, our FFA students competed in the District LDE competition in Bridgeport. We had a very successful night! This is the most teams Paradise has ever gotten into the Area Contest. We had 34 kids competing and 29 advanced to area! Paradise was also the District Sweepstakes Runner-up behind Decatur. We are super proud of these students. Here are the results:

PHS Does Well at LDE Contest
On October 27, Paradise FFA competed in the State Wide Invitational Leadership Development Event (LDE) Contest at Weatherford College. Some contests had up to 30 teams from around the state entered in the competition. Here are the results:Ag Advocacy - 5th place

Paradise placed 5th overall in the sweepstakes. The top 3 in each category received very large banners, and Paradise won 4 of them.
On November 8, we will compete in our District competition to try and qualify for Area.
FFA Members Perform Flag Duties
During football season, students from the Paradise FFA chapter performed flag-raising duties while the National Anthem was played. Before the October 27 game against Ponder, sophomores Gracie Oates and Mariah Kirbie had the honors.
Paradise Does Well at State Event
On June 8, Paradise FFA had four students and one alumna competing at State Proficiency Records. Here is a summary of how our students placed:

Ray Edwards, 1st in Natural Resources, STATE CHAMPION and NATIONAL QUALIFIER, $1,000 Scholarship.
