Paradise ISD

PISD Parents and Community Members,

I would like to address some concerns related to the new traffic patterns that will be implemented for the 2018-19 school year. Please keep in mind that the biggest complaint that I received, when I arrived in March, was that something needed to be done related to the traffic patterns at the different schools. It was obvious that the school traffic was a source of frustration and concern from our parents and community members.

We, as a school, studied the different options. We consulted with the city, and with local law enforcement, to make sure that our plan would not make things worse. Our priority will always be the safety of our students, staff and parents. We feel that we have developed a plan that will work better than what was previously put in place, but we are also aware that we will have to monitor and adjust the plan over time. A map of the plan will be put on this page tomorrow, as well as a video early next week. If you have concerns, please contact the principal at the appropriate school and let them know of your specific concerns.

We have been asked if we are breaking the law by trying to route traffic a certain way. Please know that we understand that we cannot control which way you drive down city streets. We are simply asking you to consider our suggestions to help with the safety of our students, staff and parents. We will have staff members at certain exits asking that you turn out of school driveways a certain direction. Also, please keep in mind that we are asking for your help only during the congested hours of 7:30-8:00 in the mornings and 3:15-4:00 in the afternoons.

We are doing what we feel is the best option to improve what has been a safety concern for many years. Please work with us, as we implement the new plan, and provide feedback to help us know if we have improved the situation or if we have made it worse. Thank you.
