District Tourney Cut Short by Weather

Due to heavy rain and extremely cold weather, the second round of the district tournament was cancelled. Results reverted back to Monday's scores for final placement. The boys' team ended in third place, missing the regional tournament by 11 shots. The girls placed fourth as a team. In the individual medalist races, Shelby Bradshaw placed sixth, Brandon McCutchen tied for seventh, and Lucas Heathington ended in 10th place. District Tournament Begins

HASLET-The golf teams played their first round of the district tournament on Monday, April 8. The boys team shot a 374 and is in third place, just 11 shots out of second. Brandon McCutchen shot an 86 and Lucas Heathington shot 91, placing both within the top 10. The team was rounded out by Colton Wells (95), Tanner Edwards (102), and Drew Carter (137). Erby Higgins shot a 121 as a medalist.

The girls are in fourth place after posting a 438. They were led by Shelby Bradshaw’s 97 and Olivia Bettesworth’s 100. Shelby is tied for 5th place and Olivia is in 8th after the first round. The rest of the girls team consisted of Bailey Roberts (113), Brooke Huckabee (129), and Kailyn Carwile (128). Both teams return to action on Wednesday to complete the tournament.

Paradise Makes Good Showing in Haslet

On April 1, the golf teams played at Willow Springs Golf Course in Haslet. The girls team shot a 381 and placed 2nd. All five girls posted season-low rounds. Shelby Bradshaw led the team with an 89 followed closely by Olivia Bettesworth with a 93. Brooke Huckabee fired a 99, Bailey Roberts posted a 102 and Kailyn Carwile shot 113.

The boys team carded a 360 with the following individual scores: Lucas Heathington-74, Brandon McCutchen-75, Erby Higgins-103, and Drew Carter-108. Both teams will return to Willow Springs next Monday for the first district round. The district tournament will conclude at Sugar Tree next Wednesday.

Panthers Play at Sugar Tree

The high school golfers traveled to Sugar Tree in Dennis on March 27. There were mixed results. The boys team of Brandon McCutchen, Lucas Heathington, Colton Wells, Drew Carter, Tanner Edwards, and Erby Higgins shot a 366 and placed third. Colton, Drew, and Erby shot season low rounds. Olivia Bettesworth and Kailyn Carwile both shot season-low rounds for the girls.

Panthers Take Trophy at Indian Oaks

The golf teams traveled to Nocona on Monday to compete in the Norman Waters Invitational. Shelby Bradshaw and Bailey Roberts represented the girls. Shelby carded her lowest round of the year with a 110.

The boys team placed second with a 356 total. The boys team consisted of Brandon McCutchen, Lucas Heathington, Drew Carter, Colton Wells, Erby Higgins and Tanner Edwards. Brandon (77), Lucas (84), Drew (93), Erby (117) and Colton (102) all had personal bests today. Brandon McCutchen won the individual medalist race while Lucas placed in the top 10. Please congratulate and encourage these young men and women as they continue to represent Paradise with class.

Panthers Travel to Rockwood

On March 7, the Panthers competed in the JV division of the Saginaw Chisholm Trail Roundup held at Rockwood Golf Course in Fort Worth. The girls team struggled, shooting 488 but Brooke Huckabee shot a career low individual round.

The boys team posted a 371 and placed second. Drew Carter, Erby Higgins, and Tanner Edwards all carded their best scores of the year. Brandon McCutchen tied for low round but finished third on a scorecard playoff with an 83. All 9 student athletes represented Paradise with class.

Paradise Competes at Sugar Tree

On February 26, the boys and girls survived a very cold morning at Sugar Tree. The boys team (Drew Carter, Erby Higgins, Lucas Heathington, Tanner Edwards, Colton Wells, and Brandon McCutchen) shot a 380, which was 34 strokes lower than last week. Lucas, Drew and Brandon all shot season-low rounds. Brandon placed 5th individually with an 83.

The girls (Olivia Bettesworth, Bailey Roberts, Brooke Huckabee, Shelby Bradshaw and Kailyn Carwile) shaved 47 strokes off of last week, posting a 480 team score. Olivia and Bailey both improved from the previous tournament.

Paradise will be in action again on Thursday, March 7, when they will play at the Rockwood Golf Club in Fort Worth. Both the boys and girls are scheduled to play.

Golf Season Begins

On February 19, the golf teams started the season by hosting a tournament at Cross Timbers in Azle. Both the girls and boys teams finished in the middle of the pack. The boys team consisting of Drew Carter, Tanner Edwards, Lucas Heathington, Erby Higgins, Brandon McCutchen and Colton Wells shot a 422. The girls team of Olivia Bettesworth, Kailyn Carwile, Brooke Huckabee and Bailey Roberts shot a 507. The greens were fast and the weather was cold early but we found some bright spots. This was the first ever tournament for Colton, Tanner, Erby and Kailyn.

Students Play Intrasquad Tourney

In the fall, PHS held an intrasquad tournament at Cross Timbers in Azle. Brandon McCutchen placed first. Colton Wells was second and Lucas Heathington placed third.
